Baghdad, Iraq – H E Qais Mohammed al Yousef, Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, met Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al Sudani in Baghdad on Sunday to discuss strengthening economic ties.

The two sides reviewed bilateral relations and explored ways to enhance trade and investment, aiming to boost partnerships and address regional economic challenges. Sudani affirmed Iraq’s commitment to deeper economic cooperation with Oman, emphasising the importance of greater integration in business and investment sectors.

Baghdad International Fair

Oman’s delegation is in Iraq as guest of honour at the 48th Baghdad International Fair, which began on February 1.

The participation aims to expand trade and investment ties, explore new business opportunities, and strengthen partnerships between Omani and Iraqi companies. The delegation also attended the opening of an economic forum accompanying the fair.

During the visit, the Omani delegation met Ghassan Farhan, Iraq’s Undersecretary of Commerce, and held discussions with Iraqi business leaders on investment opportunities in trade, industry and logistics. H E Yousef highlighted the potential of the Iraqi market, describing it as a promising destination for investment.

Faisal Abdullah al Rawas, Chairman of Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry, stres-sed the importance of strengthening business ties between the two countries. He noted that enhanced trade and investment cooperation would drive economic growth and create new opportunities for the private sector.

Oman’s pavilion at the fair features more than 30 companies from sectors including industry, trade, logistics, energy and technology. The fair has drawn participation of 20 countries and over 1,000 companies.
