Cold spell continues as northwesterly winds and rising sea waves affect Oman

2 Feb 2025

Muscat – Saiq has recorded the lowest temperature in Oman over the past 24 hours, dipping to 4.7°C, according to the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA). Other cold spots include al Mazyouna (5.7°C) and Thumrait (6.3°C), reflecting the ongoing chilly conditions across several regions.

In addition to the cold weather, northwesterly winds are set to intensify from Sunday evening and continue for several days, impacting most governorates of Oman. The winds are expected to cause rising sea waves, reaching a maximum height of 2.0 meters along the coasts of Oman. There is also a chance of dust and dirt in desert and open areas, leading to decreased horizontal visibility and further temperature drops.

Satellite images show cloud flow over northern Oman, with scattered rainfall in Musandam. Light showers are expected to continue in the coming period.

Residents are advised to stay updated with weather forecasts as fluctuating temperatures, wind activity, and reduced visibility could affect daily routines.
