361 expats deported from North Sharqiyah in labour crackdown

Ibra – Ministry of Labour (MoL) conducted extensive inspection campaigns throug a total of 428 expatriate workers were arrested for violating labour laws, with 361 subsequently deported. Through 2024 in North Sharqiyah the Directorate General of Labour of the governorate regulated the labour market and upheld workplace laws.

The year-long initiative from January 1 to December 31 saw inspections at 605 establishments, addressing complaints and enforcing compliance.

As part of the campaign, 131 complaints related to labour violations were investigated. Of these, 75 cases led to apprehension of offenders, highlighting MoL’s efforts to crack down on illegal employment. A total of 428 expatriate workers were arrested for violating labour laws, with 361 subsequently deported.

In addition to the arrests, 100 workers were assisted in regularising their residency status, ensuring compliance with regulations, and 163 workers either voluntarily surrendered or were handed over by their employers for further legal procedures.
