In a significant move towards sustainability, Mysk Al Mouj has announced its new partnership with EFP Oman (Eco-Friendly Packaging Oman) to launch a comprehensive waste paper recycling program. This collaboration marks a major milestone in the hotel’s ongoing commitment to environmental stewardship and responsible waste management.
EFP Oman, established in early 2022, has revolutionized the local market as the first company to produce 100% eco-friendly egg trays made from locally sourced paper waste. These trays, certified ‘Made in Oman’ as of early 2024, are crafted from recyclable, biodegradable, and compostable molded fiber, offering a sustainable solution with a full circular economy. Through this partnership, EFP Oman champions Oman Vision 2040 and Muscat’s Net Zero initiative by recycling paper waste to support local products, while enhancing Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) and Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).
As part of this collaboration, Mysk Al Mouj will join forces with EFP Oman to recycle the waste paper generated across its hotel and office operations. This partnership aligns with the hotel’s broader sustainability goals to reduce its environmental footprint, minimize waste, and promote eco-conscious practices among staff, guests, and the local community.
“We are excited to partner with EFP Oman and take this important step towards creating a more sustainable future,” said Meenu Singh, Hotel Manager at Mysk Al Mouj. “This collaboration not only helps us reduce waste but also reinforces our commitment to environmental responsibility. By recycling waste paper, we’re contributing to a circular economy, reducing resource consumption, and helping create eco-friendly products from recycled materials.” The new program will see the hotel’s paper waste collected, processed, and turned into high-quality recycled products by EFP Oman. These products will help minimize the environmental impact of paper production, reduce deforestation, and support the local recycling industry.
As part of Mysk Al Mouj’s broader sustainability efforts, the hotel has been working towards becoming a more eco-conscious destination by adopting various green initiatives such as reducing energy consumption, conserving water, and reducing plastic use. This partnership with EFP Oman is the latest addition to the hotel’s growing list of environmental initiatives. This initiative is expected to have a significant impact on reducing the hotel’s carbon footprint and will be a key part of its sustainability strategy moving forward. In addition to the environmental benefits, Mysk Al Mouj also aims to raise awareness among its guests and employees about the importance of recycling and eco-friendly practices.
