Muscat – The sultanate is set to officially launch the highly anticipated Unified National Portal for E-Government Services in February marking an important step in the country’s efforts to enhance its digital infrastructure and drive economic growth.
In an interview with Oman TV, H E Saeed bin Hamood al Mawali, Minister of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, confirmed the portal’s official launch next month. The portal is expected to streamline government services, improve digital access, and provide a seamless experience for citizens, residents and businesses.
It will centralise a wide range of government services allowing users to easily access various procedures online, thus reducing bureaucratic delays and improving efficiency.
H E Mawali said the portal will play a crucial role in supporting the country’s economic growth. “By centralising services related to investment, trade and other economic activities, the portal will simplify critical processes. By the end of this year, we expect most procedures related to investment and trade to be fully transitioned to the electronic platform,” he stated.
The national portal is part of Oman’s broader vision for digital transformation, aimed at enhancing government efficiency and creating a more tech-driven economy. As the sultanate continues to build its digital services, the portal is expected to be a key driver of economic growth by providing easy access to public services and help foster a dynamic, digital economy.
Additionally, Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology has issued Ministerial Decision No 113/2025 establishing a National Data Governance and Management Regulatory Framework. This framework aims to enhance the management and use of data as a national asset, reinforcing its role in supporting effective decision-making across government entities.
The new framework outlines national data governance policies, establishes guidelines for setting up dedicated data governance offices within government entities, and introduces a compliance assessment model to ensure the standards are met. These measures are designed to improve data governance practices, ensuring that data is used efficiently and consistently across government sectors, which is expected to strengthen Oman’s overall decision-making capabilities.
This regulatory framework is expected to complement the country’s broader digital transformation goals by ensuring the effective use of data to drive policy decisions and improve public sector performance.
