Muscat – The Sultanate of Oman has welcomed the announcement of a humanitarian truce agreement in Gaza, set to come into effect on January 19, 2025. The agreement represents a significant step towards alleviating the humanitarian crisis and fostering peace in the region.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs praised the pivotal efforts of the State of Qatar, the Arab Republic of Egypt, and the United States of America in facilitating the agreement. Oman also acknowledged the contributions of other sisterly and friendly nations whose support has been instrumental in reaching this critical milestone.
The agreement includes key measures such as the exchange of prisoners and hostages, the return of displaced individuals, and the unrestricted delivery of humanitarian aid and medical support to the people of Gaza. Oman views these provisions as essential for addressing the immediate needs of those affected by the conflict.
The Sultanate reiterated its firm commitment to peace and stability in the region and expressed hope that this truce would pave the way for further diplomatic efforts to achieve lasting reconciliation.
Oman called on the international community to continue its support for humanitarian initiatives and to uphold its responsibilities in alleviating the suffering of the Palestinian people.
