Mumbai, India – Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan is recovering in hospital after being attacked by an intruder at his residence in the early hours of Thursday. He sustained six stab wounds, two of which are deep, with one located dangerously close to his spine. A foreign object was also detected near the injured area.
Officials at Lilavati Hospital confirmed that Khan was brought in at 3am local time by his caretaker. Early reports also suggest that his son Ibrahim Ali Khan arrived at the residence and then escorted his father to the hospital.
“Saif Ali Khan was attacked by an unidentified individual at his residence. He sustained six injuries from sharp objects, such as knives, with two being deep and one perilously close to his spine. A foreign body has been identified near the spine,” a hospital spokesperson confirmed in an official statement. The actor is currently undergoing multiple surgeries, and the extent of the damage will be fully assessed upon its completion and rehabilitation.
The incident occurred at the ‘Satguru Sharan’ building in Mumbai, where Khan resides. According to police reports, the intruder initially had an altercation with Khan’s maid before the actor intervened to resolve the situation. The confrontation escalated into a scuffle, during which Khan was injured.
Mumbai Police have launched an investigation into the attack. Deputy Commissioner of Police Dixit Gedam stated in a press conference that, “The actor and the intruder were involved in a scuffle, resulting in the actor sustaining injuries. The investigation is ongoing.”
A statement from Khan’s PR team described the incident as an attempted burglary and requested privacy.
“There was an attempted burglary at Saif Ali Khan’s residence. He is currently in hospital undergoing surgery. We request the media and fans to remain patient as this is a police matter,” the statement read.
