30 Dec 2024 Low-pressure system to affect Oman from Jan 2 to 5 By OUR CORRESPONDENT

Muscat – Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has announced that a trough of low pressure will affect the sultanate from January 2 to 5.

According to the CAA, this weather system is expected to bring scattered rain showers, primarily impacting Musandam and coastal areas along the Sea of Oman. Residents in these areas can expect a significant drop in temperatures, along with formation of fog over mountainous regions. Winds will intensify, creating conditions that could raise dust and reduce visibility.

CAA also reported that the lowest temperature recorded in the last 24 hours was 6.5°C in Saiq. Other areas recording low temperatures include Al Mazyouna (10.9°C), Yanqul (11.5°C), Nizwa (11.8°C) and Al Qabil (12.1°C).

The National Multi-Hazard Early Warning Centre urged residents to remain vigilant, stay informed through official channels, and take precautionary measures to protect themselves and their property. Motorists are advised to exercise extreme caution.
