Muscat – Rider Muhannad bin Suleiman al Balushi secured the first place and gold medal in a 100km endurance race for youth organised by Oman Equestrian Federation at Al Mahamed Endurance Village in Barka on Saturday.
The race was divided into four stages with 49 horses participating. All horses underwent a veterinary examination one day prior to ensure safety and readiness.
The event also included qualifying races of 40km and 80km. Oman Equestrian Federation has set strict participation criteria for races, requiring horses to be at least six years old and registered with the federation.
Expressing his pride in the achievement, Balushi said, “This victory reflects the hard work and dedication put in by the whole team. We aim to participate in various championships to represent the sultanate on the international stage and raise its flag high.”
He added, “Equestrian sports are helping promote the country’s presence in international competitions.”
