15 Dec 2024 MoSD issues regulations for temporary care homes

Muscat – Ministry of Social Development (MoSD) announced a ministerial decision on Sunday issuing regulations for temporary care homes with details of services and guidelines for these facilities.

The regulations specify that temporary care homes will provide social, health, psychological, cultural and recreational services to beneficiaries, based on the ministry’s available resources.

These services include essential care, meeting various needs, and providing appropriate nutrition tailored to individual health requirements in coordination with government health institutions. Care homes will also implement recreational and educational programmes and facilitate means of communication to maintain continuous contact between beneficiaries and their families.

Beneficiaries of these services include children exposed to abuse, violence or exploitation, children placed in care under judicial orders, women who are victims of abuse or violence, women with disabilities, and victims of human trafficking.

The regulations ensure fair treatment among all beneficiaries without any discrimination; guarantee access to medical and psychological care; and protection of privacy and confidentiality.

Beneficiaries will be facilitated to maintain family communication, while non-Omani beneficiaries will have access to their respective embassies and representatives.
