Muscat – Embassy of the Republic of Italy in Oman conferred the Ordine della Stella d’Italia (Order of the Star of Italy), with the rank of knighthood, on Saleh Zakwani, Executive Chairman of Apex Press and Publishing, on Wednesday. The ceremony was officiated by H E Pierluigi D’Elia, Ambassador of Italy to Oman.
The order, under patronage of the President of Italy, is awarded to expatriates and foreign nationals who achieve exceptional results in preserving and promoting Italy’s national prestige and enhancing bilateral relations between Italy and other countries.
Zakwani received the order for his efforts to strengthen cultural ties between Italy and Oman.
Speaking on the occasion, H E D’Elia said, “Saleh Zakwani has been a bridge between Italy and Oman, fostering mutual understanding and collaboration through his commitment to highlighting the cultural richness and opportunities in Italy. His dedication has played a vital role in enhancing ties between our nations. Through his work with Muscat Daily and his other publications, he has greatly contributed to raising awareness on Italy in Oman and strengthening exchanges between our friendly countries.”
Receiving the knighthood, Zakwani said, “I am honoured to be awarded the Order of the Star of Italy. It is incredibly humbling to be recognised in such a way by the Republic of Italy. This is testament to the enduring ties between our two nations.”
