Muscat – Ministry of Health (MoH) has announced the rollout of an enhanced health screening programme for newborns and individuals preparing for marriage, scheduled to begin in January 2025.

This initiative aims to improve early detection of metabolic disorders in newborns and identify hereditary blood diseases and infectious conditions among couples planning to marry.

Speaking during a recent meeting, H E Dr Saeed bin Hareb al Lamki, Undersecretary for Health Affairs in MoH, highlighted the critical role of these screenings in fostering healthier families and a resilient society.

By identifying potential health risks early, the programme empowers individuals and couples to make informed decisions about their health and family planning, ensuring a healthier future.
