Muscat – The National Intellectual Property Exhibition, organised by the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, will begin tomorrow at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre and run for two days. Her Excellency Dr Rahma bint Ibrahim al Mahrouqi, Minister of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Innovation, will inaugurate the event.
The exhibition will focus on the importance of protecting intellectual property rights, including trademarks, patents, copyrights, and industrial designs. It will feature workshops, lectures by experts, and displays of local and international innovations. Among the participants are 30 Omani inventors and 20 national trademarks.

His Excellency Dr Saleh bin Saeed Masan, Undersecretary for Commerce and Industry, said the event supports the goals of Oman Vision 2040 by promoting a culture of innovation and raising awareness about intellectual property.
The National Intellectual Property Strategy includes initiatives to improve laws, enhance training, and build platforms for intellectual property services. The Ministry is also working to establish an association for Omani inventors and a specialised court department to handle intellectual property cases.
According to the Ministry, national patent applications reached 90 by the third quarter of 2024, while international applications totalled 541. By the end of 2023, there were 10,875 trademark applications and 128 copyright registrations.
The exhibition highlights Oman’s efforts to create a supportive environment for innovation and protect intellectual property as part of its development goals under Oman Vision 2040.
