Muscat – Oman has strongly condemned and raised concern over an airstrike launched by Israel on Iran on Saturday morning.
In an official statement, the Foreign Ministry said the act constituted a blatant violation of Iran’s sovereignty, a clear breach of international law and an escalation that fuels the cycle of violence, undermining efforts aimed at de-escalation, tension reduction and crisis containment through peaceful and diplomatic means.
‘While Oman denounces these ongoing Israeli practices that threaten to drag the region into further turmoil and instability, it reiterates its call for the international community to take effective action to stop the aggression and put an end to these blatant violations on the territory of neighbouring countries in the region.’
H E Sayyid Badr al Busaidi, Foreign Minister, posted on X, “We are very concerned by Israeli aggression on Iran this morning. Thankfully the damage appears limited, and we dearly hope there are no casualties. It’s time for the world to wake up to the urgent need to address the root causes of this crisis, above all Israel’s illegal and brutal occupation of Palestinian lands.”
The sultanate reiterated its call to address the root causes of the region’s crises by ending the illegal Israeli occupation of Palestinian and Arab territories and halting aggression on the Gaza Strip, as mandated by United Nations and Security Council resolutions.
‘Oman demands the recognition of the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent state along the 1967 borders within the framework of a two-state solution, in accordance with the Arab Peace Initiative, ensuring a just and lasting peace for all parties.’
Israel launched direct strikes against Iran early on Saturday in a high-stakes retaliation to Tehran’s ballistic missile barrage earlier this month.
