Muscat – The University of Technology and Applied Sciences (UTAS) has announced the launch of seven master’s programmes as part of its academic plan for 2024-25, aimed at strengthening its academic offerings and fostering a conducive environment for scientific research and innovation.

The new programmes will be available from February 2025, with applications open to both Omani and international students.

Dr Saeed bin Hamad al Rubaie, President of UTAS, expressed optimism about the programmes, noting their alignment with technological advancements and Oman Vision 2040. “By introducing these specialised programmes, we aim to adapt to evolving knowledge paradigms, foster research and innovation skills, and enhance leadership and communication abilities.”

UTAS will offer tuition-free scholarships for various master’s programmes, ensuring access to higher education for aspiring students from Oman and abroad.

Dr Fatima bint Abdullah al Muqbali, Dean of Graduate Studies at UTAS, highlighted the university’s commitment to enhancing educational quality. She explained that the new graduate programmes are designed to foster scientific research, strengthen research capabilities, and prepare graduates to meet the demands of labour markets.

The university will launch six master’s programmes in February 2025, with another planned for the 2025-26 academic year. These programmes include Master’s in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages with specialisations in English for Academic and Special Purposes and Master’s in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages with Digital Education in the Knowledge Society at the College of Education in Rustaq.

The College of Economics and Business Administration will offer Master’s of Business Administration in Leadership and Innovation, as well as Master’s of Science in Customs and Taxation. The College of Computer and Information Sciences will offer Master’s of Science in Digital Transformation and Innovation. The College of Engineering and Technology will provide Technical Master’s in Mining Operations Engineering and a Technical Master’s in Reliability and Maintainability Engineering.
