Muscat – Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi met with H E Sayyid Badr bin Hamad al Busaidi, Omani Foreign Minister, in Muscat on Monday. Araghchi stopped in Muscat following his visits to Iraq, Lebanon, Syria, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar amid growing tensions in the Middle East.
The Iranian minister said that the region is in a heightened state of alert, warning that it could be on the verge of wider conflicts.
He stated that Iran is prepared for any possible scenario but reiterated that diplomacy remains the best way to prevent crises and de-escalate tensions.
Araghchi highlighted the importance of cooperation with Oman and other nations to tackle regional challenges through dialogue and coordination, aiming to enhance security and stability.
The Iranian minister described his meeting with H E Sayyid Badr as productive, with discussions focusing on current events in the region. Both sides reaffirmed the strong neighbourly ties between Oman and Iran, built on a foundation of mutual respect, cultural bonds, and expanding economic interests.
The talks covered key regional issues, including the ongoing Israeli aggression in Lebanon and the Gaza Strip, and Israel’s refusal to withdraw from the occupied Palestinian territories, in violation of United Nations resolutions and international law. Both ministers stressed the need for continued efforts to halt the escalation of violence and promote peace through dialogue.
They reaffirmed their commitment to using diplomacy as a primary tool to resolve conflicts, and to strengthening bilateral and regional partnerships aimed at maintaining security, stability, and development throughout the region.
