Amman, Jordan – Oman will be keen to ride on the momentum of their swashbuckling win against Kuwait when they take on Jordan in the AFC Asian Qualifiers – Road to 26 Group B clash in Amman on Tuesday.
Oman, who replaced head coach Jaroslav Silhavy with Rasheed Jabar after defeats in their opening two matches, were in scintillating form against Kuwait and won 4-0 to open their account.
Abdul Rahman al Mushaifri scored a double for Oman while Mohsen al Ghassani and Abdullah Fawaz were also on target as Oman dominated their opponents
Jabar said Oman would be keen to continue their momentum.
“We must be careful not to be complacent, the road is still long and difficult in the Qualifiers,” said Jaber.
“We must continue to work hard and enter every match with greater effort and higher confidence to impose our style of play on our competitors.”
Meanwhile, Jordan will look to recover from their recent slump.
With four points from three games, Jordan are third – three points behind joint leaders South Korea and Iraq following a 2-0 defeat to the East Asian side on Matchday Three.
Head coach Jamal Sellami pointed to the absence of key players Mousa Al Tamari and Yazan Al Naimat as reasons for the loss to South Korea.
“The circumstances of the match didn’t favour us, but I take responsibility for the result. We lacked strength with Al Taamari out, and although Al Naimat came on in the second half, we weren’t at our best. However, we will bounce back,” said Sellami.
Al Tamari remains unavailable for the Oman match as he is sidelined with injury.
