13 Oct 2024

Muscat – Royal Oman Police (ROP) rescued five hikers who lost contact while trekking in the mountains in Muscat governorate. The group was hiking through a rugged range between Dima Wa al Taien and Amerat when they went missing.

ROP Aviation conducted two search and rescue operations over two days. On Friday, four injured hikers were found and treated, with one of them being transferred to The Royal Hospital. The following day, the fifth hiker was located in good condition and safely brought to a secure area.

Authorities have urged outdoor enthusiasts to prioritise safety during mountain hikes and adventure sports. The Civil Defence and Ambulance Authority also reminded hikers to register their trip details on the Nidaa app before setting out to ensure quicker assistance if needed.
