Muscat – Represented by the Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs, Oman participated in the tenth edition of GCC Islamic Affairs and Endowments Ministerial Meet held in Doha, Qatar on Sunday.

H E Dr Mohammed bin Saeed al Maamari, Minister of Endowments and Religious Affairs, led Oman’s delegation, stressing on the significance of the meeting in strengthening bonds of brotherhood, harmony and unity among member states. In his speech, he highlighted the need to enhance these ties and explore new avenues of cooperation benefiting the council countries and their peoples.

H E Maamari addressed the challenges facing the region and the rapid, unbalanced pace of global events, including the unjust war and ongoing aggression in Gaza and Lebanon. He stressed the importance of joining efforts to confront these developments, directing the moral and ethical compass of societies towards a brighter future founded on human harmony and common values.

He pointed out that national institutions, represented by the ministries of endowments and religious affairs, play a vital role in promoting the ethical and humanitarian principles of Islam, particularly concerning family values, coexistence and peace. Such efforts are essential for maintaining societal balance in a world increasingly disconnected from these virtues.

The minister emphasised the responsibility of protecting societies from harmful ideologies that distort the essence of Islam.

H E Maamari also discussed the importance of endowments in sustaining charitable and humanitarian work, advocating their development to meet the evolving needs of societies.

He proposed the establishment of a global day for endowments to raise awareness about their critical role in social care and to educate the world about the rich history of charitable work in Islam.
