Paris, France – French President Emmanuel Macron has called for an immediate halt to arms shipments to Israel amid its ongoing military operations in Gaza, which have reportedly resulted in nearly 42,000 deaths and left 97,000 injured over the past year.
President Macron stressed the need for a political solution to the escalating conflict and stated that France is not supplying weapons to Israel for use in Gaza. He urged Israel to adhere to international and humanitarian law while defending itself.
Macron also addressed recent Israeli strikes in Lebanon, warning: “Lebanon cannot become a new Gaza.”
Despite his call for an arms shipment halt, the Elysee Palace later clarified that France would continue to supply essential components and equipment necessary for Israel’s defence, particularly for the Iron Dome system, which protects the country from incoming rocket attacks.
The French president’s comments highlight a delicate diplomatic stance—supporting Israel’s right to self-defence while raising concerns about the humanitarian consequences of its military actions.
