6 Oct 2024 E-platform launched to boost Omani products in hospitality, tourism sector

Muscat – In line with its ongoing commitment to enhance in-country value (ICV) and support the growth of local business, Oman Tourism Development Company (Omran Group) has launched an e-platform called Intajee.

The platform aims to enhance economic growth by empowering local companies and entrepreneurs and expanding the presence of made in Oman products and local services in the tourism and hospitality sector, thus contributing to strengthening the local industry and highlighting Omani products in the sector.

Badriya bint Abdulrahman al Siyabi, Director of Sustainability and Social Investment at Omran, stated, “The Intajee platform is one of Omran’s initiatives aimed at enhancing local content.”

She explained that the platform serves as a link between local suppliers, manufacturers and Omran – its companies, hotels and resorts – thereby supporting the competitiveness of made in Oman products and creating an authentic tourism experience for a diverse range of visitors.

“The platform offers an organised database of made in Oman products and suppliers within the tourism and hospitality sector, playing a pivotal role in promoting Omani brands and enhancing their presence and growth in the local market,” Badriya added.

Omran encourages providers of made in Oman products and services to register on the platform and showcase their products and services through intajee.om

The group’s objectives are focused on enhancing the potential of the tourism sector in Oman and reinforcing the role of local businesses in achieving this goal. The total expenditure on SMEs last year amounted to RO15mn, with an average of 450bz spent on SMEs for every Omani rial. Additionally, over RO8.5mn was spent on locally manufactured products, while the group invested more than RO200,000 in technology localisation.
