Khasab – Musandam is gearing up for its winter tourism season, which runs from November to April, anticipating visitors from around the world.
According to the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, the 2023 winter season saw 68,243 tourists from Gulf, Arab, European and Asian countries, many arriving on cruise ships.
In addition, 21,972 tourists explored the historical landmarks in the governorate last season, according to Salah bin Mohammed al Farsi, Director of Department of Heritage and Tourism in Musandam.
Farsi highlighted the ongoing collaboration between the ministry and various government and private agencies to promote Musandam’s natural and historical attractions. The governorate is known for its rich historical heritage, with several castles and forts where a variety of activities will be organised for visitors in the upcoming winter season.
Musandam is also known for its islands and marine attractions. Khor Sham, a key bay in the region, features a dolphin reserve and diverse marine life, which are a significant draw for tourists.
One of the most exciting experiences in the governorate is the world’s longest zipline over water spanning 1,800m in Khasab.
Farsi informed that Musandam has ten hotels – seven in Khasab with 365 rooms and three in Dibba with 128 rooms. Regular meetings are held with hotel owners and tourism companies to address developments, tackle challenges and ensure smooth communication with government agencies involved in the sector.
Additionally, Musandam Governor’s Office is prioritising the promotion of key tourist destinations through social media platforms to raise awareness and attract more visitors to the governorate’s unique offerings.
