Salalah – Dhofar Municipal Council convened on Wednesday to discuss various development plans for the tourist and archaeological sites in the governorate, besides looking at various programmes for the improvement of health, environmental and social services across the region.
The civic body also reviewed the outcome of the discussions on visions and proposals across multiple sectors with advisory councils representing university and college students in the southern Oman.
Key topics addressed in that meeting included the activation of a national programme for spreading sign language, as outlined in the meetings of the council’s permanent committees.
The council also reviewed the results of a recent meeting between the Governorate Development Committee and Dhofar Municipality specialists on a project to construct a bridge on Rabat Street at the intersection of Al Nahda Street in Salalah.
Additionally, the council discussed the proposed Al Mughsail-Rakhiout-Dalkout coastal road project, emphasising its significance for the economic, tourism and commercial developments of the region, besides highlighting its expected role in boosting investments in Dhofar.
They also examined a report from the Oman Investment Authority on efforts to bolster the food security system, create income sources for local breeders, and provide job opportunities for youth. Finally, the council reviewed correspondence from the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Water Resources regarding the implementation of the Wadi Adawnib Dam project in Salalah.
