18 Sep 2024 By OUR CORRESPONDENT

The Hague, Netherlands – The Sultanate of Oman has praised the International Court of Justice’s advisory opinion, issued on July 19 2024, on the legal consequences of Israel’s occupation of Palestinian territories since 1967, including East Jerusalem. Oman called for Israel to end its illegal presence and compensate the Palestinian people for damages incurred.

In a statement by Deputy UN Representative Khalid bin Saleh al Rabkhi, Oman highlighted the opinion as a key step in supporting Palestinian rights and urged global efforts to end the occupation, aiming for an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Oman also expressed concern over the Gaza blockade, calling for its immediate lifting and the provision of humanitarian aid, while stressing the need for both humanitarian and political solutions to secure lasting peace.

Oman reaffirmed its support for the Palestinian cause, calling on member states to back a UN resolution and uphold the principles of justice and law.
