Muscat – Oman achieved overall second place at the 36th edition of the FIAP International Black and White Biennial Competition recently held in India.

In an interview with Muscat Daily, Salim bin Sultan Amer al Hajri, who secured a gold medal for his photograph ‘Desert Saga’, expressed his pride in this significant accomplishment. 

Hajri noted that Omani photographers competed against entries from over 44 countries, including France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, India, Spain, Belgium, South Africa, Argentina, Australia, Norway, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Bahrain.

Registration for the competition was open from May until July 1.

Hajri highlighted that ten Omani photographers were awarded gold medals, demonstrating the talent and creativity present within Oman. 

Among the winners are Muhannad Munir Abdullah al Badawi with Start, Khalid al Rawahi with Equivocati, Mahmood al Amri with Angry Camel, Ismail al Farsi with Conflict, Hatem al Rashdi with The Start of Camels, Khalid al Maawali with The Decisive Moment, Ahmed al Busaidi with Faster, Ahmed al Touqi with Rising and Yousuf al Muaini with Training.

“We will continue to create photographs that reflect Oman’s heritage and origins, aiming to participate in international competitions and promote tourism in the sultanate,” Hajri concluded.
