12 Sep 2024 By OUR CORRESPONDENT

Vienna, Austria – The Sultanate of Oman and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) have signed a new technical cooperation framework for 2024-2029 in Vienna, marking their third such agreement.

The IAEA, a UN agency established in 1957, promotes the peaceful and safe use of nuclear energy. This new framework will enhance Oman’s radiation safety, support sustainable development in agriculture, food safety, water management, and environmental protection, and advance healthcare through nuclear medicine. It also includes initiatives to preserve Oman’s cultural heritage.

The agreement aligns with Oman’s Vision 2040, aiming to diversify the economy and improve living standards. The document was signed by His Excellency Yousef bin Ahmed Al Jabri, Oman’s Permanent Representative to the IAEA, and Hua Liu, Deputy Director General of the IAEA’s Department of Technical Cooperation.
