Muscat – The Ministry of Education (MoE) has invited bids for the design and construction of ten new schools across Oman.
This initiative aims to engage the private sector in enhancing the country’s education infrastructure, driving innovation in services, and supporting sustained growth.
The deadline for bid submission is October 21, MoE informed.
The ministry has already made 16 new school buildings operational in the beginning of the academic year 2024-25.
A total of 811,679 students joined various schools in the sultanate in this year, the ministry informed.
For the fiscal year 2024, RO7mn has been allocated for the renovation of several schools. Additionally, RO4mn will be invested in refurnishing 83 science laboratories, and RO3mn will be used to enhance the educational environment through the establishment and upgradation of sports fields and other facilities, MoE stated.
In another development, the ministry is seeking community input for naming a new educational platform.
H E Dr Abdullah bin Khamis Ambusaidi, Undersecretary for Education in MoE, announced that the platform will integrate the ministry’s new system, encompassing all educational and administrative services within the Oman Digital System.
The name must be a single Arabic word, related to education or technology, and not currently used in existing systems within the sultanate.
