Muscat – To promote sustainable tourism and attract investment and visitors, Dhofar Municipality has announced an ambitious development project called Boulevard Razaz.

A tender for implementation of the project to begin before the end of the year will be announced soon.

A groundbreaking development spanning over 47,000sqm and expected to receive 1mn visitors annually, Boulevard Razaz promises to redefine Dhofar’s tourism landscape with its innovative approach and eco-friendly design.

In a statement, Dhofar Municipality said, ‘This ambitious project aims to create a vibrant destination that harmonises luxury, culture and sustainability, setting a new standard for tourism in Dhofar.’

The RO40mn project aims to stimulate investments, support small and medium enterprises, and generate job opportunities. It also aims to create entertainment venues, attract the largest number of tourists to Dhofar and rely on the use of renewable energy.

The boulevard will be a dynamic destination featuring a variety of entertainment venues and attractions designed to appeal to a broad range of interests. At the heart of this development will be a water channel, artistically shaped to read ‘Oman’ from the top providing a striking centrepiece for visitors.

It will feature a fun zone offering a thrilling experience with a Jurassic Park-themed entertainment area and exciting water games, perfect for families and adventure-seekers alike. Nearby, Fountain Island will create a vibrant atmosphere with its marina, diverse dining options and shops. Visitors can relax and enjoy the view from a square that overlooks a grand fountain, adding to the area’s charm.

The Innovation Centre is poised to be a hub of activity, supporting entrepreneurs with a dedicated spaces, including a hotel, an exhibition and conference centre and Grand Souq. This souq will feature international stores, giant advertising screens, floating restaurants offering global cuisine and a cinema hall, making it a lively spot for both shopping and entertainment.

For those seeking natural beauty, Salalah Eye will offer breathtaking views of Dhofar’s picturesque terrain, serving as a tranquil escape within the boulevard. The Music Area or Melody Square will cater to cultural enthusiasts with a theatre, media studio, music academy and a square dedicated to artistic performances, ensuring a rich array of musical and theatrical experiences.

Additionally, the Garden Zone will provide a serene retreat with lush gardens, a suspension bridge, artificial waterfall and a gift shop. This zone promises to blend natural beauty with vibrant social spaces, creating a multifaceted experience for visitors to enjoy.

The project will emphasise the use of renewable energy while aiming to enhance the tourism experience in Dhofar.
