Muscat – In a significant crackdown on illegal tobacco trade, the Compliance and Risk Assessment Department recently conducted two major raids, seizing a substantial quantity of restricted and prohibited cigarette cartons.

The first operation took place at the residence of an Asian worker in Al Amerat, where authorities confiscated over 11,500 cartons of illegal cigarettes. In a separate raid at a shop in the Seeb market, officials seized more than 430 cartons of cigarettes along with 305 kilograms of tobacco derivatives.

In a statement, the ROP stated that legal proceeding has been initiated against the violators.
