Salalah – Dhofar Municipality has announced the launch of a project aimed at developing the Taqah waterfront as part of a broader effort to boost tourism and improve the aesthetic appeal of the wilayat.

The waterfront project will cover an area of 92,650sqm, featuring a 2,973m stretch along the coastline. It will include a variety of amenities designed to cater to both locals and tourists. Among the planned facilities are restaurants with sea views, an administrative office, a walkway and a dedicated bicycle path.

In addition, the development will feature seating areas, playgrounds for children, sports equipment and green spaces with 350 trees, all of which will contribute to creating a vibrant and welcoming environment.

The waterfront will also include public squares equipped with  fountains and sculptures, along with shaded seating areas to ensure comfort for visitors. The project will provide essential services for both men and women, including restrooms and prayer areas.

The construction and maintenance tender for the project was floated on July 30 and is open to local contractors, with vendor grades specified as Excellent and First. The deadline for bid submission ended on August 27.

The development is expected to transform Taqah waterfront into a major attraction, contributing to the local economy and enhancing the overall quality of life for residents. The project aligns with the broader goals of Dhofar Municipality to improve infrastructure and promote sustainable tourism in the governorate.
