Salalah – Dhofar Municipality’s mobile food laboratory is playing a crucial role in enhancing food safety during the khareef festival in Dhofar this year.

The initiative is part of the municipality’s efforts to improve health practices and uphold high standards of food safety at various event sites across the region.

Salah Salem al Ajili, Director of the Food and Laboratories Department at Dhofar Municipality, said that the mobile laboratory was introduced to strengthen health oversight over temporary food carts that serve visitors and tourists during the khareef season. The mobile lab has conducted over 300 tests on food and water samples this August alone, ensuring the safety of visitors at tourist destinations.

Ajili added that the mobile laboratory’s dual purpose includes both practical testing and public education.
