New York, USA – Omani diplomat Dr Adnan bin Rashid al Azri, Chairman of United Nations Commission on the Limits of the Continental Shelf, has been awarded the Friendship Medal by the Russian Federation. The honour recognises his significant contributions to the work of the commission.

The medal was presented by Alexander Kozlov, Russia’s Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, on behalf of President Vladimir Putin. The ceremony took place at the Russian Mission to the UN in New York.

Kozlov commended Azri’s effective role in advancing international cooperation on continental shelf boundaries, adding that the honour is a testament to the strong relations between Oman and Russia and reflects international recognition of the sultanate’s efforts in global forums.

Azri has played a crucial role in several key projects and initiatives aimed at enhancing scientific understanding and fostering collaboration among member states. His work continues to strengthen ties within the international community, underlining Oman’s active participation on the world stage.
