Muscat – The 8th Oman Dermatology International Conference and Exhibition, organised by Oman Dermatology Society in collaboration with Directorate General of Health Services in Dhofar, will commence on Friday at Millennium Resort Salalah.

Dr Faiza bint Ahmed al Raai, Chairperson of the two-day conference, informed that on the agenda are nine diverse and comprehensive scientific sessions covering specialised and emerging topics.

These include psychodermatological disorders, local cases of genetic skin diseases, cutaneous manifestations of internal diseases and acquired immunodeficiency syndrome, role of gut microbiota in skin diseases, controversies in dermatologic cosmetic medicine, and reviews of recent articles in the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology.

Additionally, there will be updates on core topics such as medical use of lasers and skin endoscopy in the diagnosis and treatment of skin diseases.

A large number of medical and paramedical professionals will participate in the conference, including dermatologists, family physicians, cosmetic surgeons, allergists and immunologists, pediatricians, pharmacists, residents and medical students.

Since its establishment in 2006, Oman Dermatology Society has sought to enhance education and training in the fields of dermatology and cosmetic dermatology, while increasing awareness of this important medical speciality. The society has played a key role in organising several national and international conferences, as well as general and specialised workshops on dermatology.
