Muscat: The Maritime Security Centre (MSC) has announced that the search and rescue operation for the two missing fishermen has been officially terminated after extensive and relentless efforts by the relevant authorities.

The search, which began on August 8 when an Omani fishing boat with two people on board went missing northeast of the Qurum area in Muscat governorate, involved coordinated and continuous operations. Despite the comprehensive efforts, which included various search and rescue teams working tirelessly, the operation has now been called off.

On August 10, MSC reported that the missing fishing boat had been located northeast of the Wilayat of Saham, sparking hope that the two-person crew might still be found. However, despite finding the boat, the two fishermen remained unaccounted for, and the search continued.

By August 12, MSC confirmed that coordinated efforts were still ongoing, with multiple agencies involved in the extensive search operations. The dedication of the search teams was evident as they worked around the clock to locate the missing fishermen.

However, despite these relentless efforts, MSC announced on Sunday that the search has come to an end. ‘The joint search and rescue operation for the fishermen has been terminated after continuous efforts by the relevant authorities,’ MSC said.
