Salalah – Dhofar International Film Festival is set to take place in Salalah from September 8 to 11 featuring 200 films from 18 countries, including 166 international entries. Organised by Oman Film Society (OFS), the festival aims to promote the culture of films in Oman, particularly among the youth.

Details of the festival were announced at a press conference on Sunday, where its slogan – ‘Be part of the event’ – was also unveiled. 

Mohammed bin Abdullah al Ajmi, Chairman of OFS and the festival, informed that the event is part of the society’s ongoing efforts to boost the film industry across Oman. “This festival is a continuation of our plan to enhance the cinematic movement in the sultanate through film festivals in seven governorates, with Dhofar now being included.” 

The festival will present six awards, including Best Omani Feature Film, Best International Feature Film, Best Omani Documentary and Best International Documentary. Additionally, there will be jury awards for both feature and documentary films. 

The jury consists of experts, artists and film professionals from Oman and abroad.

The festival will include screenings of participating films at Police Cinema in Oasis Mall, besides workshops and seminars focused on cinema.
