Majlis A’Shura condemns Wadi Kabir shooting
Muscat – H E Sayyid Badr Hamad al Busaidi, Foreign Minister, spoke with his counterparts from Iraq and Jordan on Wednesday.
Speaking with Fuad Hussein, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Iraq, H E Sayyid Badr reviewed the growing relations between the two countries.
They also touched on key developments and underlined the two countries’ consistent visions that back all means of maintaining regional and global security, stability and peace.
Hussein expressed his country’s solidarity with Oman over the gun attack that took place in the vicinity of a mosque in Wadi Kabir. He also extended Iraq’s condolences over the death of some civilians and the martyrdom of a serviceman.
On his part, Ayman Safadi, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates in Jordan, expressed his country’s solidarity with Oman for the shooting on Monday night. He also extended his country’s condolences to Oman.
During the call, the two ministers underscored the distinguished relations between Oman and Jordan. They also underlined the ongoing fruitful cooperation between the two countries in various fields.
Majlis A’Shura condemnation
Majlis A’Shura strongly condemned the gun attack in Wadi Kabir on Monday night, expressing sorrow over the tragic loss of lives and injuries sustained.
In a statement, the shura extended heartfelt condolences to the families of the five deceased individuals and sympathies to the family of Royal Oman Police officer Youssef al Nadabi.
The attack also resulted in injuries to 28 individuals of various nationalities, including ROP and Civil Defence and Ambulance Authority personnel who were performing their duties.
The statement included prayers for the deceased, invoking mercy and forgiveness from God, and wished a swift recovery for all those injured. It acknowledged and appreciated the efforts of Oman’s security and military agencies, as well as the contributions of citizens and residents in containing the situation, praising their collective national efforts.
The shura expressed dismay at the shooting, emphasising that such actions, regardless of their motives, are unacceptable on Omani soil.
The statement concluded with a prayer for the ongoing safety and stability of Oman under the wise leadership of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik.
