16 missing as oil tanker capsizes off Duqm

Muscat – A search and rescue mission has been initiated for the 16-member crew of Comoros-flagged oil tanker that capsized 25 nautical miles off Duqm on Monday.  

After receiving a distress signal by the Maritime Security Center from the tanker, identified as ‘Prestige Falcon’, a search and rescue mission was initiated in coordination with different departments and agencies.

Of the 16, 13 have been identified as Indians and three Sri Lankans. ‘Efforts are ongoing to rescue the crew, while ensuring minimum environmental impact from the oil tanker leakage.’
