Muscat – Construction of a new market project in Wadi al Maawil is progessing briskly, according to the Governor of South Batinah, with over 65% of the project complete.

Spread over an area of 16,000sqm, construction cost exceeds RO319,000. Project completion is anticipated by the end of 2024.

Supervised by South Batinah Governor’s Office, the market will feature 27 shops, cafes, a mosque, ample parking space, and landscaped and sitting areas. Additionally, the market will offer services catering to tourists and visitors.

Saud bin Saeed al Maawali, Deputy Chairman of South Batinah Municipal Council, informed that the new market will serve as an economic and tourist hub for the wilayat of Wadi al Maawil and neighbouring areas such as Barka and Nakhal owing to its strategic location and easy accessibility.

Maawali further stated that efforts are underway to prepare an adjacent fish market, with plans for central air conditioning and other essential services to improve consumer convenience.
