Muscat – The Sultanate of Oman and the Republic of Uzbekistan held a political consultation session in Muscat on Wednesday, reinforcing historical ties and commitment to advancing bilateral cooperation across diplomacy, economy, culture and science.

Sayyid Badr bin Hamad al Busaidi, Foreign Minister, led the Omani delegation, while Bakhtiyor Saidov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, headed the Uzbek side during the consultations. Discussions included perspectives on developments in the Arab-Israeli conflict, focusing on the Palestinian issue and actions by Israeli authorities, alongside various regional and global matters of shared concern.

Additionally, the two sides signed a mutual visa exemption agreement covering diplomatic, special and service passports between Oman and Uzbekistan.

The political consultation session was attended by  Sheikh Humaid bin Ali al Maani, Head of Foreign Ministry’s Global Affairs Department, Abdusalam Khatamov, Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Oman, and several senior officials from both sides.

Meeting with Sayyid Asaad

Delegated by His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, H H Sayyid Asaad bin Tarik al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for International Relations and Cooperation Affairs and Personal Representative of His Majesty the Sultan, received Saidov in his office  on Wednesday.

During the meeting, the two reviewed bilateral cooperation and means of enhancing these in various fields to serve joint interests. They also discussed several matters of mutual interest.

The meeting was attended by Sayyid Badr, the Secretary General and Advisor in the Office of H H Sayyid Asaad, the Uzbek Ambassador to Oman and the delegation accompanying Saidov.
