Muscat – Consumer Protection Authority (CPA) carried out extensive supervisory and inspection efforts across various markets in the sultanate during the Eid al Adha holiday break.

CPA conducted 12,377 inspection visits targeting various sectors, including sheep pens, meat shops, fruit and vegetable shops, markets, commercial complexes, beauty centres, salons, tailoring, pastry and all other shops that witness increased customer turnout during Eid holidays.

During these inspections, CPA identified 210 violations. The most common of these were failure to fix price labels on goods and services (55 violations), failure to issue purchase invoices (44 violations), raising prices without obtaining prior approval from the authority (34 violations), and failure to deliver commodities or complete services by the agreed due date (20 violations).

CPA has provided multiple platforms for consumers to report complaints and issues, including a toll-free consumer line (80079009/80077997), CPA social media accounts, and direct communication with its inspectors in markets.

These measures are part of the authority’s ongoing efforts to ensure fair trade practices and protect consumer rights during peak shopping periods.
