Muscat – As part of its efforts to support persons with disabilities, the Ministry of Social Development (MoSD) launched a platform called Ta’heel – Arabic for ‘rehabilitation’ – at COMEX Global Technology Show, which concluded on Thursday.

An official at MoSD said, “The Ta’heel platform aims to facilitate the provision of services to persons with disabilities, their families and workers of government, private and civil rehabilitation centres.”

The platform allows persons with disabilities and their families to submit requests for rehabilitation services at various centres, obtain evaluation dates, modify these dates if necessary, and track the status of their requests before and after evaluation.

Additionally, Ta’heel supports entities wishing to open rehabilitation centres for people with disabilities by enabling them to request new centre licences, open new branches, renew existing licences and add new activities.

According to a statement released by MoSD, 107 rehabilitation centres have already benefited from the platform, including 40 government, 56 private and 11 civil centres.

Currently, there are 7,790 beneficiaries of the platform among people with disabilities, with 3,774 receiving services in government centres, 3,467 in private and 549 in civil centres.

Additionally, the platform supports 1,150 specialised staff members, including 367 specialists in government centres, 50 in private and 733 in civil centres.
