CPA cracks down on expired goods, prohibited toys in Dakhliyah

26 May 2024

Muscat – The Consumer Protection Authority (CPA) has found several establishments in Dakhliyah governorate selling expired goods and prohibited toys, directly contravening the Consumer Protection Law, its executive regulations and a resolution linked to this category of merchandise.

This came to light following a series of inspections of shops and commercial centres conducted in various parts of the governorate on Sunday.

CPA said, ‘The resolution No 301/2021 explicitly bans the sale of jelly and slime toys in Oman unless producers provide proof of obtaining the Gulf Standard certificate or necessary approvals from relevant authorities.’ During the inspections, authorities seized 1,019 illegal toys and subsequently issued violation notices to the violators, while taking immediate legal action.
