Forum to review economic diversification of governorates on Wednesday

Muscat – The Ministry of Economy is organising a forum on Wednesday focused on decentralisation and economic diversification at the governorate level.

The Governorates Economics Forum will be inaugurated at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre under the patronage of H H Sayyid Theyazin bin Haitham al Said, Minister of Culture, Sports and Youth, in the presence of H E Dr Saeed bin Mohammed al Saqri, Minister of Economy; H E Dr Khalfan bin Saeed al Shuaili, Minister of Housing and Urban Planning; and Sayyid Ibrahim bin Saeed al Busaidi, Governor of Musandam.

The forum aims to enhance cooperation and exchange experiences between various governorates to achieve sustainable development and economic diversification.

All governorates will review their visions and plans to improve their economies, aligning with the Oman Vision 2040 that provides a strategic framework to develop the national economy and achieve sustainable development.

The participation of all governorates in the forum will focus on highlighting their comparative and competitive advantages within various sectors, such as tourism, logistics, and industries. They will also review the promising economic sectors and investment opportunities available in their regions.

Additionally, the forum will provide an opportunity to review efforts in the implementation of strategic urban projects and real estate development plans, particularly in Muscat governorate. 

These include digital projects, partnership projects with the private sector, and major projects implemented by other entities.

The participation of all governorates in the forum underscores the empowering effect of decentralisation in development work and decision-making for development projects and initiatives.
