Muscat – Muscat Municipality issued a stern warning on Tuesday against random disposal of waste in public areas.

The civic body stressed on the detrimental impact of this practice on the environment and soil. ‘Such careless dumping leads to pollution, disfigurement of public spaces, and the accumulation of dirt and dust, accompanied by unpleasant odors.’

Highlighting the cascading negative effects, the municipality underscored how random waste disposal creates breeding grounds for insects and attracts stray animals, necessitating substantial human and financial resources for cleanup efforts.

The types of waste contributing to this issue range from construction debris such as broken bricks and cement bags to various materials such as stones, wood, metals, and car tyres.
