Muscat – Sri Lanka has introduced a new e-visa requirement for all tourists and business travelers entering the country starting April 17, 2024.
This change marks the end of the previous Electronic Travel Authority (ETA) visa scheme, which was discontinued on April 16, 2024. The new e-visa system brings several updates, including visa exemptions for citizens of Singapore, Maldives, Seychelles, and the Czech Republic.
Certain nationalities are ineligible for the e-Visa and should apply for a visit visa at their nearest Sri Lankan Mission or the Department of Immigration and Emigration. Additionally, transit passengers passing through Sri Lanka are eligible for an e-Visa waiver, valid for a maximum of two days.
To enter Sri Lanka, travelers must carry a printed copy of the e-visa approval, a passport with at least six months of validity from the date of entry, and a return ticket or proof of onward travel. Passengers from some countries may need to provide a yellow fever vaccination certificate to comply with international health regulations.
The application process can be completed online through the official website, srilankaevisa.lk, offering a streamlined and efficient way to obtain visas.
