Muscat – His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik will embark on a state visit to the United Arab Emirates on Monday, when he will meet Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed al Nahyan, President of the UAE.

A statement was issued by Diwan of Royal Court to this effect. It read as follows: ‘In affirmation of the deep-rooted and historical relations binding the Sultanate of Oman and the United Arab Emirates, His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik will go on a state visit to the UAE with effect from Monday, April 22, during which he will meet with Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed al Nahyan, President of the UAE.

‘The visit stems from the fraternal bonds and good neighbourliness between Oman and the UAE. It also reflects the keenness of the two countries’ leaderships to enhance joint ties and push these towards wider horizons.

‘The visit will explore areas of the existing cooperation between the two countries in various spheres and means of promoting these to serve the interests of the Omani and Emirati peoples and meet their current and future aspirations for further progress and prosperity.’

The volume of trade between the two neighbours was worth RO5.44bn in 2023.

During the visit, His Majesty the Sultan will be accompanied by a high-ranking delegation comprising Sayyid Shihab bin Tarik al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for Defence Affairs; Sayyid Bilarab bin Haitham al Said; Sayyid Khalid bin Hilal al Busaidi, Minister of Diwan of Royal Court; Gen Sultan bin Mohammed al Nuamani, Minister of Royal Office; Sayyid Hamoud bin Faisal al Busaidi, Minister of Interior; Sayyid Badr bin Hamad al Busaidi, Foreign Minister; Dr Hamad bin Said al Aufi, Head of Private Office; Abdussalam bin Mohammed al Murshidi, Chairman of Oman Investment Authority; and Qais bin Mohammed al Yousef, Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion.
