Muscat – As part of the ongoing cooperation between the Ministry of Health (MoH) and private healthcare sector, H E Dr Ahmed bin Salem al Manthari, Undersecretary for Planning and Health Regulation, met directors of private hospitals operating in the sultanate on Tuesday.
The meeting focused on the challenges faced by the private healthcare sector and opportunities available for its development.
H E Dr Manthari praised the vital role played by the private healthcare sector as an active partner in serving the citizens and residents of Oman, complementing the efforts of government health institutions. He said this is particularly significant as these cover approximately 2mn expatriate beneficiaries, in addition to Omani citizens benefiting from private healthcare services.
During the meeting, the key challenges in healthcare investment, health insurance, as well as medical and paramedical human resources were reviewed.
The active and supervisory role of the Directorate General of Private Health Establishments in facilitating the operations in private healthcare sector was also addressed.
Following the meeting on Tuesday, regular interactions will be held every three months, involving other relevant government sectors related to the healthcare sector, medical and healthcare human resources, health insurance, and investments, to contribute to development in line with Oman Vision 2040.
