19 Mar 2024

Muscat – The Royal Opera House Muscat launched its first Ramadan concert series with a captivating performance by the Ibn Arabi Ensemble from Morocco, alongside Oman’s very own Al Zawya Ensemble. The event, held at the Royal Opera House of Musical Arts, offered a deeply immersive evening in Sufi chanting, fostering a profound connection with the audience.

Established in 1988 in the vibrant city of Tangier, the Ibn Arabi Ensemble stands as one of the oldest Sufi groups in existence, celebrated for their mastery of Sufi instrumental and chanting traditions. During the performance, the Moroccan ensemble focused on popular well-known tunes, with songs from famous Sufi poems by well-known figures such as Ibn Arabi, Ibn Al Farid, Rabi’a Al Adawiya, Abu Al Najib Suhrawardi, and others. In a beautiful display of cultural harmony, the Al Zawya Ensemble of Oman joined forces with the Moroccan ensemble, creating a unique two-part concert.

The near sold-out concert marked the debut of ROHM’s Ramadhan concert series, promising a culturally enriching experience for audiences. This series aims to bring together various regional artists in collaboration with local Omani artists creating a profound connection through music during the holy month of Ramadhan. In the next few weeks, ROHM will welcome renowned artists such as the Mawlawiyyin and Levantine Religious Chants Group of Syria, accompanied by the talented Khalid Al Araimi on March 25th, followed by Ali El Helbawy and Oman’s own Sami Alsubhi on April 1st.

Both upcoming concerts will be held at the Royal Opera House of Musical Arts, starting at 9:30 pm. For more information and ticket purchases, please visit the box office, ROHM website, or app.
