Muscat – Blood banks encounter a shortfall every year during Ramadan and the Ministry of Health (MoH) has renewed a call for people to donate blood.
A statement issued by Department of Blood Banks Services (DBBS) said, ‘The Central Blood Bank has witnessed a significant decrease in the number of blood and platelet donors since the beginning of Ramadan, with 308 blood donors and 24 platelet donors contributing.’
According to DBBS, the Blood Bank in Bausher will require more than 2,700 blood donors and 260 platelet donors during Ramadan.
Blood donation timings in Ramadan: 7:30pm to 11.30pm every day and from 8am till 12.30 pm from Sunday to Thursday.
