Muscat – The Embassy of Italy in Muscat will celebrate the eighth edition of Italian Design Day with a roundtable discussion on March 5 at National Museum of Oman. 

The roundtable, held in collaboration with the National Museum, will focus on the future of design under the theme ‘Manufacturing Value: Inclusiveness, Innovation and Sustainability’. Additionally, it aims to support the promotion of design and the internationalisation of a strategic industrial sector for Italian exports, the embassy stated. 

The event will feature Prof Alba Cappellieri, Ambassador of Design to Oman and Department Head of Design at Polytechnic University of Milan, as well as representatives from the Omani world of design. The event will target fashion and design entrepreneurs and enthusiasts.

The aim of the event is to boost Italian-Omani cooperation in this field and support exchange and education of youth designers.

Additionally, Prof Alba will deliver a lecture on the future of design, innovation and sustainability to students of Scientific College of Design in Muscat.

Italian Design Day is an annual theme-based event launched in 2017 by Italy’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, in collaboration and with the support of the Ministry of Culture. It consists of an extensive programme of promotional events around the world, created by the network of embassies, consulates and Italian cultural institutes.
